Overview

The fan section is the air-moving heart of an air handling unit. We build it into our air handling units, or on its own as a ventilation section where a plant room needs air moved and nothing else. It moves up to 120,000 CMH, and handles a pressure drop of up to 1,400 Pa where the system carries HEPA terminals or a HEPA section.

Inside is a high-efficiency centrifugal fan, backward or forward curved, single or double inlet, statically and dynamically balanced, and belt driven at a single speed or on a variable speed drive. The motor sits on the same chassis as the fan, and rubber or spring isolators keep its vibration out of the rest of the system.

The casing is single or double skin sandwich panel in a range of thicknesses, with high-density thermal insulation inside, on a self-supporting frame of hygienic extruded aluminium profiles: the same casing system as our air handling units.

Certifications & standards

What each mark on this product means, who issues it and how it applies here.

All certifications & standards
  • ISO 9001

    Quality Management Systems

Issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

    What it is
The international standard for quality management systems. A certified company works to documented processes, checks its output against them, records what it finds and corrects the cause of any fault, and is audited on all of it by an independent certification body.
    On this product
Designed, fabricated and inspected under our certified ISO 9001 quality system: the same documented process for every unit, whichever of our factories builds it.
  • AMCA

    Air Movement & Control Compliance

Issued by Air Movement and Control Association International (AMCA)

    What it is
AMCA publishes the laboratory test methods the industry uses to rate air-moving and air-control products (fans, dampers, louvres and air curtains) for airflow, pressure, leakage and sound, so figures from different makers can be compared on the same basis.
    On this product
Air performance data for this unit is established to AMCA test methods, so it compares like for like with other rated equipment.

Frequently asked

For anything these answers do not cover, speak to one of our engineers directly.

Where is a fan section used?

Inside an air handling unit, as the section that moves its air, or on its own as a ventilation section where a plant room needs air moved and nothing else.

What airflow and pressure can a fan section handle?

Up to 120,000 CMH of airflow, and a pressure drop of up to 1,400 Pa where the system carries HEPA terminals or a HEPA section.

Can the fan run at variable speed?

Yes. The fan is belt driven, at a single speed or on a variable speed drive. Either way it is statically and dynamically balanced, and rubber or spring isolators keep the motor's vibration out of the rest of the system.
