Evaporative Cooling Units (Air Washers)
Water as the refrigerant, up to 120,000 CMH
In a dry climate, water does the cooling. An air washer saturates the air stream through spray nozzles or cooling pads instead of running a refrigeration circuit, which is what makes its energy consumption very low.
Air washers are built to the same 120,000 CMH ceiling as our air handling units. For hybrid operation a chilled water or DX coil is added after the wet section, and an electric heater makes the same unit serve all year round.
