Overview

The ultimate safety barrier. A fire damper closes the duct where it crosses a fire compartment, so fire and smoke cannot travel through the air system from one zone of a building to the next.

Fire dampers close on a UL-listed fusible link rated to 165 °C. Smoke dampers are multi-leaf dampers in a rigid 1.5 mm steel casing, with single-skin blades whose grooved tips interlock on closure; fitted with side and tip seals they meet the closed-blade leakage of UL 555S Class II, with seals rated to 80 °C or, in silicone, to 175 °C.

They are motorized with 24 V or 230 V electric actuators, including spring-return actuators that drive the damper to its fail-safe position the moment power is lost, and limit switches that report open and closed to the building's control system. Cases are made for rectangular, circular and flat oval ducts, for vertical or horizontal installation.

Certifications & standards

What each mark on this product means, who issues it and how it applies here.

All certifications & standards
  • UL Listed

    Fusible Links to 165 °C

Issued by UL Solutions (Underwriters Laboratories), USA

    What it is
A UL Listing means samples of a product were tested by UL against a published safety standard and that its production is inspected by UL on an ongoing basis. In a fire damper the fusible link is the safety-critical part: it melts at its rated temperature and releases the blades to close.
    On this product
The fusible link that releases the damper is UL listed: it melts at its rated temperature, up to 165 °C, and lets the blades close to hold back fire and smoke.
  • ISO 9001

    Quality Management Systems

Issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

    What it is
The international standard for quality management systems. A certified company works to documented processes, checks its output against them, records what it finds and corrects the cause of any fault, and is audited on all of it by an independent certification body.
    On this product
Designed, fabricated and inspected under our certified ISO 9001 quality system: the same documented process for every unit, whichever of our factories builds it.

Frequently asked

For anything these answers do not cover, speak to one of our engineers directly.

At what temperature does the fire damper close?

Its UL-listed fusible link melts at its rated temperature, up to 165 °C, and releases the blades to close the duct.

What leakage class do your smoke dampers reach?

UL 555S Class II with side and tip seals — rated to 80 °C, or 175 °C in silicone. Side seals alone give Class III, and the standard unsealed build Class IV.

What happens if the power fails?

With a spring-return actuator, the damper drives itself to its fail-safe position as soon as power is interrupted.

Can they be fitted to round or oval ducts?

Yes. Besides flanged and sleeve cases for rectangular duct, dampers are made with circular and flat oval spigots, up to 1,150 × 1,150 mm.
